SPREADING KINDNESS - March 20th

Mom's beautiful SMILES.

Crazy resemblance between my 19 year old and his grandfather.

Mom and Dad, circa 1993.

How Operation Wink Came About:

My dad passed away suddenly on March 20th, 1994. He was my hero. I was 20 years old and devastated. Each year I loathed the date on my calendar. It was a reminder that another year had passed without my father in my life, another year that he had missed out watching his 4 grandson's grow into amazing young men, another year without his wisdom and dry wit.

Three years ago marked 20 years. Time had healed a lot of the pain of his absence, but March 20th continued to be a dark day year after year. In 2014, I changed that. I decided that I would no longer look at that day with such dread. I would take it as a day to honor and celebrate my father in the form of a day of good deeds. He was a kind and giving man and I couldn't think of a better way to honor him than to spread kindness to others.

"Operation Wink" is in effect moving forward on this day.  To wink at someone is to extend a kind gesture to others. "Wink" was also my childhood nickname given to me by my daddy, so it happens to be the perfect name for my mission.

In 2015 my mom died suddenly of a brain aneurysm brought on by a stroke. In 2016, I dedicated Operation Wink to them both.

Please join in my mission and make your "dark day" a brighter one!
